February 24th, 2022, on the outskirts of KYIV, the Russian Armed Forces (RuAF) launched an operation as daring as it is risky, a task entrusted to its elite units: The Airborne Forces (VDV). The battle was short-lived, but the decisive action of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) thwarted a dangerous maneuver in the first hours of combat. Thanks to wargaming, it is possible to methodically analyze this battle and gain useful insights into one of the most daring special operations in a Large-Scale Combat Operations (LSCO) setting in recent years.
