Dübendorf Air Base

Temporary flight operations by the Patrouille Suisse from Dübendorf
Between July and August, the Patrouille Suisse will use Dübendorf Air Base ase as a temporary base on certain days. In this context, there may be flight movements involving F-5 Tiger fighter aircraft at the airfield and in the surrounding area.
The Swiss Air Force, through its display teams, showcases the capabilities and operational readiness of its personnel at various events both at home and abroad. For selected engagements during the summer months, the Patrouille Suisse will operate from Dübendorf.
The following activities are planned:
• 13 to 17 July: Individual arrivals and departures at Dübendorf Airfield
• 7 to 8 August: Flights by the Patrouille Suisse as part of the Rapperswil Lake Night Festival
• 20 August: Departure of the Patrouille Suisse for a mission in Sweden
Using resources efficiently
The temporary flight operations from Dübendorf are intended to ensure the optimal use of available personnel and material resources during the summer months. The military airfields at Emmen and Meiringen will be available only to a limited extent, or not at all, during this period due to maintenance work on the runways. By concentrating operations in Dübendorf, the Patrouille Suisse flight operations can nevertheless be maintained. The Air Force would like to thank the public for their understanding.
The Dübendorf Air Base is the main base of Air Transport Wing 3. It reports to Air Base Command in Emmen.
Flight operations with Super Puma, Cougar and EC635 helicopters take place daily. In addition, it is the air base of several federal air transport services and swisstopo’s special survey aircraft.
The Swiss Air Force regularly flies search and rescue (SAR) missions out of Dübendorf using SAR helicopters.
The Dübendorf Air Base is also used for parascout training on Pilatus PC-6 aircraft, and is a training site of the PC-7 TEAM.
Dübendorf Air Base is also home to a workshop, unique in Switzerland, where specialists repair, maintain and develop equipment for professional groups such as military pilots and parascouts.
The Military Police, the Armed Forces Logistics Organisation, the Cyber Command Organisation (Cy), the Command Support Training Unit and the Air Reconnaissance Technical Service are all stationed on the premises. External partners include skyguide, the Federal Office of Topography swisstopo, RUAG, the Zurich police force, REGA and the Air Force Centre.
The Swiss Air Force’s operations centre is located in the adjacent skyguide building. It is the nerve centre for all real-life and training exercises carried out, and is the control centre for aircraft and helicopters.
