  Large space requirement

  Unlike many demonstration teams, Patrouille Suisse uses the F-5 Tiger, a fighter jet. This aircraft flies considerably faster than, for example, a training plane. Consequently, its turning radius and thus its space requirement are quite large. A fair-weather program can be flown with cloud base around 3000 m, a medium-weather program requires about 1500 m, and a bad-weather program necessitates minimal weather conditions prevailing.

  • Example Looping: The entry speed is approximately 850 km/h, with a load factor of 4 to 5 g, and the diameter measures around 3000 m.
  • Example Barell-Roll: The entry speed is approximately 700 km/h, with a load factor of 3 to 4 g, and the diameter measures around 1500 m.

  Minimum weather conditions

  To perform a bad-weather program, Patrouille Suisse requires a minimum visibility of 5 km and a cloud base of 1000 feet (300 m).

  Safety always comes first

  Patrouille Suisse strictly adheres to clearly defined minimum altitudes. Horizontal flybys are performed at a minimum of 200 ft (60 m), while all other maneuvers maintain a minimum altitude of 300 ft (100 m). The distance from the audience is at least 230 m. During turns and maneuvers with a vector towards the audience, the minimum distance is 450 m.

  The distances between each aircraft within the formation range from three to five meters. Pilots fly approximately two meters offset vertically to avoid flying into the turbulent air created by the aircraft in front of them.

To request a performance by the Patrouille Suisse

Every year, Patrouille Suisse receives numerous requests to participate in various events. We endeavor, within our capabilities, to accommodate these requests and showcase our skills to a wide audience.

The operational planning of the demonstrations requires significant coordination effort. Therefore, it is mandatory to adhere to the submission deadline, which is by the end of October of the previous year of the planned event.

The deadline for requests for the display season 2026 is the end of October 2025.
