Sports Centre of Competence
Fitness of the soldiers is the capital of the Swiss Armed Forces. General Guisan already knew this. And the Sports Centre of Competence also works according to this motto.
The Sports Centre of Competence is the doctrinal body for sport throughout the armed forces and is primarily concerned with the following 3 areas:
Elite sport in the Swiss Armed Forces
The Swiss Armed Forces (SAF) support federations and their athletes through various funding programmes to establish themselves in international top level sport, strengthen elite sport and enable long-term international success.
CISM
The Conseil International du Sport Militaire (CISM) is the international military sports federation based in Brussels. Based on the pillars of sport and solidarity, the CISM and a large number of its 140 member countries have been organising sporting events for armies from all over the world since its foundation in 1948.
Sports education
The sporting performance of the troops is a prerequisite for the basic and operational readiness of the armed forces. Therefore, it is important to develop and check the sports awareness of the member of the armed forces in schools, training courses and courses by conveying meaning, prevention, motivation, instruction and supervision.
