Peacekeeping Swiss Armed Forces

Peacekeeing in the international context is one of the three mandates of the Swiss Armed Forces. Currently approximately 300 men and women are serving voluntary in peacekeeping missions abroad and contribute to the continued stability in regions which have been affected by conflict and war. Peacekeeping missions

The Swiss Armed Forces actively engages in peacekeeping around the world. Currently there are over a dozen missions in Europe, Africa and Asia. The men and women who volunteer for the various peacekeeping missions as members of the Swiss Armed Forces carry out assignments depending on the mission type and the area of engagement.

Training Centre SWISSINT

The Training Centre SWISSINT is in charge of mission-specific training of Swiss military personnel for voluntary service abroad in peacekeeping operations. To ensure target oriented training, the Training Centre has a staff that is operationally expe­rienced and proficient in several languages. The mission-specific training sequences are checked and evaluated after each course to ensure that theo­retical knowledge and practical skills for peacekeeping operations abroad are taught as effectively as possible.

Information events

The SWISSINT personnel marketing team travels around Switzerland to demonstrate the many different ways individuals can participate in peacebuilding. The team are supported by highly skilled and experienced men and women. They provide information about the different missions taking place all over the world at public events, large exhibitions, and through appearances in various cities, universities and technical colleges as well as at numerous recruit and leadership schools of the Swiss Armed Forces.

Are you interested in military and civilian peacekeeping? With the Swiss Peace Supporter you can learn first-hand from peacekeepers around the world about what they do and what challenges they face in the field. The magazine also features articles by experts on various topics related to peacekeeping and as well as information on recruitment, training courses and the available resources.
