Qualified Athletes

If an athlete does not meet all the requirements for admission to the elite sports recruit school, there is the possibility to complete military service as a qualified athlete in a regular recruit school. The aim of this support scheme is to ensure the maintenance of performance levels during the recruit school (RS) period.

Requirements

You meet the requirements if at least one of the following criteria applies:

  • Holder of a Swiss Olympic Card
  • Member of a national junior, U21, U23 or elite squad
  • Team sports: member of a youth team or National League A (in exceptional cases National League B)
  • Athlete of national importance (e.g. Swiss wrestling / Schwingen)

Application Deadlines
Please note the following binding application deadlines:

  • Winter RS: apply by 01.12
  • Summer RS: apply by 01.05

Admission Process

  • Gather information
Obtain information from your national sports federation about the application process.
If no specific information is available, proceed directly to step 2.
  • Submit application
Submit your application via the online form to your national sports federation. Only one application may be submitted per athlete.
  • Review by the sports federation
Your sports federation reviews the criteria and submits a recommendation (acceptance or rejection) to the Armed Forces Sports Competence Center.
  • Decision by the Armed Forces Sports Competence Center
The army reviews your application and makes the final decision.
  • Notification
You will be informed directly by the Armed Forces Sports Competence Center about the decision.

Support during RS

  • Up to 4 × 3 hours of training per week
  • Training ideally during duty hours, e.g. during off-peak hours or leave time
  • The actual implementation depends on the weekly schedule

Important
The support is only granted if a detailed training plan is available and the athlete's conduct is impeccable.
