The Swiss Air Force Professional Aviator Corps	The permanent Surveillance Wing was established by Federal Council decree on 28 May 1941, with the main task of guaranteeing neutrality in Swiss Air Space. At the end of 2005, the Surveillance Wing, rich in history and tradition, was disbanded with the introduction of air base structures as part of the armed forces reforms and transformed into the Professional Aviator Corps. World Economic Forum (WEF)

In 2023, the armed forces will once again support the civilian authorities in the canton of Graubünden in carrying out security tasks in connection with the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF). Parliament approved the deployment of a maximum of 5000 soldiers on these civil affairs support operations from 2022 until 2024. The 2023 WEF meeting will be held from 16 to 20 January, the army's mission lasts from 10 to 26 January.

F/A-18 Swiss Hornet Solo Display Team

Captain Yannick ‘Fönsi’ Zanata is an F/A-18 pilot with Aviation Squadron No 17 and is also a pilot with the Swiss Air Force's Swiss Hornet Display Team in airshow seasons from 2021. The Genevan has already logged more than 2,000 flight hours, of which 900 were with the F/A-18 Hornet.

Captain Zanata attended the SPHAIR courses in Geneva.

He completed his flight training with the Swiss Air Force on the following aircraft:

Captain Zanata has been part of No 17 Squadron since 2014. Today he also passes on his knowledge as a flight instructor on F/A-18s and PC-7s.

Our demonstration pilot presents the Boeing F/A-18C Hornet interceptor in spectacular solo flights.

For his attractive solo performances, our display pilot flies the Boeing F/A-18C Hornet interceptor.
