Andrew Clarke

Biography

Born in Campbellford, Ontario, Canada; Bachelor of Arts (B.A. with a major in Political Science and a minor in Philosophy) at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada from 1982-86; Bachelor of Education (B.Ed. - Teaching Diploma) at St. Thomas University in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada from 1993-94; Following exchange programme in Switzerland 1991/2, move to Switzerland in 1994; Acquired citizenship in 2008; Worked as a language teacher, proofreader and translator at various private schools and companies, at a Swiss commercial vocational school (KV Uster) and at the ETH research institutes Eawag and Empa.

Since 2015, language teacher at the Military Academy at the ETH Zurich.

This position comprises:

-  the planning and teaching of language courses

-  the translation and proofreading of texts

-  the creation of teaching materials and glossaries of military terminology

-  the administration of TOEIC (Test Center Administrator)

 

Avocational: Proofreader of academic texts in English for Swiss and Austrian universities
