Several dozen militarized members of the PPS A provide individual psychological counselling throughout the year. The counsellor and the military explore the personal situation together and assess the difficulties and personal resources. As far as possible, solutions are worked out together with the parties concerned (PPS A, SAN, leaders, commanders).
No diagnosis is made during the psychological consultations, and no final decision is taken. The members of the PPS A make a comprehensive assessment of the individual situation of military personnel and offer advice.
Individual counselling sessions are conducted in strict confidentiality. At the end of the interview, a report is drawn up and forwarded to the troop doctor, who is also bound by professional secrecy. Thus, with the exception of the integration counsellor and the troop doctor, information is never passed on to third parties without the prior agreement of the AdA. Writing a psychological report is a professional act that guides the specialist and ensures quality follow-up. It is a means of deepening the counsellor's understanding of the situation and ensuring good understanding between professionals.
Psychological counselling is not a substitute for operating effective peer support and engaging the leadership skills of leaders.
The PPS A has a hotline for the orientation and triage of applications and gives the appropriate follow-up. In addition, the PPS A is present at the beginning of the recruit schools as well as at the cadre course. The aim is to establish a first contact between the soldiers and the PPS A in order to establish a fruitful and efficient cooperation.
