Lucerne2025.ch is going live: 555 days to go until the 5th CISM Military World Winter Games.

The launch of the eagerly awaited Lucerne2025.ch website marks the start of the countdown to the 5th CISM Military World Winter Games, which will be held in Switzerland from 23-30 March 2025 under the motto Military Champions for Peace. The city of Lucerne will host the international sporting event along with over 1,500 athletes from more than 40 nations.

The 5th Military World Winter Games will feature competitions in an impressive variety of sports in the stunning winter venues of Engelberg-Titlis, Andermatt and Goms. Athletes will compete for highly coveted medals in alpine skiing and snowboarding, parachute skiing, cross-country skiing, biathlon, ski mountaineering, patrol skiing, cross-country skiing and sport climbing. The wide range of sports covered makes it possible for nations without a winter sports tradition to participate in this important event. Furthermore, the organization of para-sport events is intended to enable soldiers who have been injured in action to take part in the Games. The initiative underlines the Organising Committee’s commitment to integrating disability sport and promoting inclusivity at sporting events: it is in line with CISM’s objective to promote the recognition of parasports events and provide better and more dignified sporting opportunities for soldiers with physical disabilities.

The Swiss CISM delegation, which is organising the 5th Military World Winter Games, is committed to high quality sports competitions, environmental awareness and the promotion of international friendship among the CISM nations. The Military World Winter Games are run by soldiers for soldiers. Behind this is a huge commitment by the Swiss Armed Forces, without which the staging of this event would be unthinkable. Entire companies are specially assigned to this event during this time and take on many key tasks. These include ensuring safety, preparing the slopes and providing active support in setting up and dismantling the infrastructure. They also provide catering and transport services and are involved in numerous other areas.  The national sports federations support the organizer in competition-specific matters. In addition, the inclusion partner PluSport supports in all matters of parasports.
