Contact event jointly hosted by Switzerland and Austria
Bern (BE) — From 16 to 21 September 2019, Switzerland and Austria will be hosting a contact event for military representatives from 27 OSCE member states. In Switzerland, the representatives will visit the Wichlen (Glarus) and Hinterrhein (Graubünden) tank firing ranges, take part in a demonstration of the new armoured vehicle-launched bridge system in Thun (Bern), and visit the Payerne air base (Vaud). By hosting a contact event every five years, the Swiss Armed Forces are fulfilling their obligations under the Vienna Document 2011, and are contributing to confidence and security-building in Europe.
