Armed Forces College (AFC)

The Centre of excellence for leadership training
The AFC is the Swiss Armed Forces’ centre of excellence for the training of career officers and NCOs as well as conscript officers from unit level upwards. Its faculties foster nationally and internationally recognised research and teaching in the military sciences. The AFC also offers civilian executive personnel the opportunity to learn military management methodology, leadership and communication.

Command and Staff Officer School (CSOS)

The CSOS is responsible for the military leadership training of prospective company and battalion commanders and command assistants of battalion staffs. During the leadership course for prospective unit commanders, there is the opportunity to participate in the CAS in Decisive Leadership at the University of Lucerne.

Interoperability and Cooperation Command (ICC)

The Interoperability and Cooperation Command (ICC) is the military authority responsible for enabling, developing and ensuring the interoperability of the Swiss Armed Forces. It ensures that the Swiss Armed Forces can successfully carry out national missions and international operations. The ICC strengthens the armed forces' capacity to act, responsiveness and operational readiness by aligning itself with international procedures, providing targeted training and integrating technologies. More information

General Staff School (GSS)

The GSS is responsible for the basic and advanced training of general staff officers as well as staff officers of the major units. Simulator-based exercises are employed to monitor the level of training of military staff from battalion level upwards, the AFC training courses and partners within the Swiss Security Network.

Leadership and communication training command (LCC)

In practice-orientated courses, the LCC trains conscript and career cadres of the armed forces in the areas of leadership, media events, management and communication. Parts of the training are also offered to civilian executive personnel as well as to institutions of public administration and the private sector in standardised and custom-tailored courses.

The Military Academy (MILAC) at ETH Zurich

The MILAC at ETH Zurich offers various training programmes for career officers. They receive practical training and further education in preparation for their tasks. The faculties ensure internationally recognised research and teaching in the military sciences and provide the specific and practice-relevant foundation for the AFC and the development of the armed forces. The Armed Forces Professional NCO School (NCOS)

NCOs in the Swiss Armed Forces receive basic and advanced training at the NCOS to acquire the skills needed to train, supervise and lead in recruit and officer schools. The NCOS offers internationally recognised and certified leadership courses for domestic and foreign NCOs from NATO and Partnership-for-Peace countries. More information
