Force development
Switzerland's international environment is changing - continually and rapidly. Its armed forces must be equipped to meet the challenges of the present and the future, in order to be able to contribute to the security of the country. Fading borders and sometimes diffuse forms of threat call for armed forces that are capable of deploying their forces and resources to the benefit of Switzerland in a purposeful, economic and flexible manner.
In this context, the term 'force development' describes the process of aligning the armed forces to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow on the basis of political guidelines.
The development of armed forces also includes reallocation of resources, reorganisation and reassessment. The goal is always optimum implementation of the missions they have been tasked with by people and parliament.
