MINURSO (Western-Sahara)

Swiss participation in the MINURSO

The SMU dentist ran his dental surgery in a container.

From November 1991 to August 1994, the Swiss Armed Forces participated with no more than 85 people in MINURSO with a Swiss Medical Unit (SMU). This operation goes back to the request end of May 1991 to the Federal Council of the good offices and international peace promotion working group (AGDIF, corresponds to a management committee in today’s language) and is based on UN Resolution 690. The working group was composed of persons in charge from the DFA and the DoD.

Please find more information on Swiss involvement in MINURSO here.
