Leadership workshop at the Lake of Constance – the sails are set
The first leadership workshop led by the head of the CSO Maj Gen Roberto Fisch was held at the Lilienberg management forum in Ermatingen on 2 and 3 May 2011. A location that was not chosen by chance. The lovely premises spread out over five hectares by the Lake of Constance convey openness and tranquillity. Ideal prerequisites for developing creative ideas and visions that flowed into the work of the teams in the workshop. Exchanging ideas and becoming acquainted were also of central importance.
Maj Gen Fisch opened the event with the words: ‚Not the wind but the sail determines the direction’ The E ship, symbolising the reorganisation of the CSO set sail on 4 April 2011. There is wind. Now, the sails have to be set in such a way that the CSO reaches its port of destination. Its new organisational structure has to be critically evaluated. Only if the right employees are set to work in the right place, is the CSO perfectly poised to succeed in its transformation into an efficient service organisation.
Apart from the preparations to post the definite organisational structure for 1 January 2012, lowering operational costs as part of the cost improvement projects and the elaboration of 2012 service level agreements will be important milestones. Through the internal ICT D project led by Col GS Matthias Sartorius deadlines are allocated to the various tasks required to attain the targets by the end of the year and are coordinated and evaluated in close collaboration with the head of the CSO. Any changes in the timetable can thus be made in good time. Col GS Sartorius: ‘The dialogue with all persons involved and the willingness of every individual to perform are decisive for the success of the project.’
Norbert Huber and Florian Guillet presented their new sectors Client Management (CRM) and Architecture/Projects/Development of Basic Infrastructure (APE). To put it briefly, the CRM is the central point of contact for all client needs and orders. Conversely, the APE provides a consolidated technical ICT system landscape with the best possible use of resources. The importance of both sectors was clearly apparent.
An evening boat trip on the Lake of Constance with Fondue Chinoise and good humour marked the end of the leadership workshop.
